Inggris:

Thursday, , November 23 2017 (November twenty third two thousand and seventeen)

First Reading 1 Mc 2:15-29, Lk 19:41-44

The heroism of Mattathias was told with pride in the book of Maccabees. Mattathias who had an integrity of solid faith refused to obey the king’s command to abandon all the traditions and customs that they have observed and practiced for their age. The triumphs they brought from the past have made Jesus sad because Jesus remembered the glory and he realizes that sooner or later the independence and firmness of the faith of Israel will be thoroughly challenged and 30 years after Jesus uttered these words, Titus a general of Rome attacked and besieged Israel and destroyed them. Jesus wept bitterly because of the unchanging hearts of Jerusalem. We often find the gospel when Jesus shed tears. In this exact same place, David his father cried, so did the men who were with him, even though David and his men were war heroes. Christ wept in immediately after He was praised and exalted. He cried while the people around him rejoiced. It shows how He did not feel exalted by the applause and exclamation of these people. He wants a true attitude, not just a momentary burst of emotion that is volatile and vacillated based only the trend. Jesus wept over Jerusalem and its inhabitants who disrespected the efforts of the Fathers of the Nation who built it lovingly and sacrifice, with a sincere and holy heart. Jesus wept over the mentality of the people of his day, allowing himself to be trapped in a rigid formalism but ignored the essence of the Law, to love God with all his heart and to love his fellow men as much as to love himself. He wept over Jerusalem for refusing to change. Brothers and sisters, God greets us also through the events of our lives, especially through the rebuke, criticism and advice we read, we listen also from our fellowman. Our self quality is not measured by how often we follow the trend of the times, but on how open and consistent we obey every gospel message that brings us to Love to God and neighbor. True Catholics are those who faithfully love one another, who are faithful to serve each other fully and wholeheartedly.

Spanyol:

Jueves, 23 de noviembre de 2017
PRIMERA LECTURA 1 Mc 2: 15-29, Lc 19: 41-44
