Kita semua mengetahui lewat cerita Injil bahwa Yudas adalah pengkhianat yang begitu kejam dan hampir tanpa belaskasihan. Kasih dan kemurahan hati yang Kristus tunjukkan kepda dia, dia balas dengan pengkhianatan. Injil mengarahkan kita untuk waspada terhadap setiap tendensi untuk mengabaikan kebaikan dan kerahiman Tuhan.

Ketika jumlah murid makin bertambah (Kis. 6:1), ada saja beberapa di antara mereka yang malah menjadi aib dan menimbulkan masalah. Yesus memilih dua belas Rasul yang dia yakin memiliki kualitas yang unggul namun ternyata kecenderungan hati Yudas mengantarnya untuk lebih percaya pada godaan setan. Yudas lebih menyukai uang 30 keping perak daripada Kristus, guru dan sahabatnya. Yudas memilih mengabdi kepada uang daripada kepada Tuhan dan guru-Nya.

 Kedua belas orang itu adalah teman-teman Kristus yang terpilih, yang diberi kehormatan untuk mengecap karunia istimewa-Nya. Mereka adalah pengikut setia-Nya yang bergaul sangat dekat dengan Dia, sehingga sudah seharusnyalah mereka mengasihi Dia dan setia kepada Dia. Namun, salah satu dari mereka malah mengkhianati-Nya. Kita perhatikan bagaimana para penginjil menggambarkan bahwa mekanisme kejahatan itu pun bisa membelenggu orang yang dianggap paling dekat dengan Kristus sekalipun.Tidak ada belenggu kewajiban ataupun rasa terima kasih yang dapat menahan mereka yang sudah dikuasai setan (Mrk. 5:3-4).

Yudas yang menyerah pada kuasa dan belenggu si jahat justru pergi kepada para pemuka agama untuk menawarkan nyawa Yesus. “Apa yang hendak kamu berikan kepadaku?” (ay. 15). Mereka tidak menyuruhnya datang, atau mengusulkan hal itu kepadanya. Mereka tentu tidak pernah menyangka bahwa salah satu dari pengikut Kristus sendiri akan sampai hati berbuat begitu pada-Nya. Perhatikanlah, bahkan di antara pengikut-pengikut Kristus sendiri ada beberapa yang lebih buruk daripada yang bisa dibayangkan orang, dan tidak ada lagi yang diinginkan orang-orang seperti ini selain kesempatan untuk mewujudkan kejahatan mereka itu.

Dalam persekongkolan para tua-tua agama untuk melawan Kristus, di sinilah mereka biasanya menghadapi jalan buntu (ay. 4-5). Mereka tidak mau mencari gara-gara dengan Dia di hadapan khalayak ramai, tetapi mereka juga tidak tahu ke mana harus mencari-Nya saat Dia tengah sendirian. Inilah masalahnya, dan kesukaran itu sepertinya tidak dapat diatasi sampai di saat Yudas datang pada mereka untuk menawarkan jasanya. Perhatikan, mereka yang membiarkan dirinya disesatkan kuasa kejahatan seperti imam-imam kepala tersebut, mendapati Yudas yang ternyata jauh lebih siap daripada yang dapat mereka bayangkan, untuk membantu mereka mengatasi kebuntuan. Sekalipun para penguasa, dengan kuasa dan kepentingan mereka, dapat membunuh-Nya saat Dia sudah ada dalam cengkeraman tangan mereka, namun seorang murid-Nya sendirilah yang justru mengkhianati-Nya. Perhatikan, kedekatan dengan Tuhan mesti dibarengi juga dengan disposisi hati yang benar di hadapan Allah karena kalau disposisi hati buruk justru mengarah pada ketidaktaatan dan kesesatan.

.               Ada sebuah alasan utama mengapa Yudas sampai mengkhianati Gurunya sendiri. Dia mengharapkan imbalan uang dari perbuatannya itu. Yesus tidak pernah menyinggung Yudas, meskipun Dia sudah tahu sejak awal bahwa Yudas memiliki sifat jahat. Akan tetapi, sejauh yang bisa dilihat, Dia menunjukkan kasih sayang yang sama terhadapnya seperti yang Dia tunjukkan kepada murid-murid lainnya, dan tidak mengungkapkan aib yang bisa membuatnya kehilangan kehormatan. Yesus justru menempatkan dia dalam posisi yang dia senangi, yaitu sebagai bendahara, dan meskipun dia sering mengambil uang kas yang dipegangnya. Bukan kebenciannya terhadap Sang Guru ataupun perselisihan dengan-Nya yang membuat Yudas menjadi seorang pengkhianat, namun karena kecintaannya akan uang semata. Ketamakan Yudas akan uang membuat Dia justru menjadi penjilat di hadapan imam-imam kepala dengan pertanyaan, “Apa yang hendak kamu berikan kepadaku?” Perhatikan, bukanlah kurangnya uang, melainkan kecintaannya akan uanglah yang menjadi akar dari segala kejahatan, dan khususnya kemurtadan terhadap Kristus. Pertanyaan, “Apa yang hendak kamu berikan kepadaku agar aku bisa berkhianat?” adalah pertanyaan seorang yang melihat manusia (Yesus Guru) hanyalah sebuah barang dagangan.

Mencari kesempatan untuk melakukan dosa dan mereka-reka kekejian adalah perbuatan yang amat jahat, karena hal ini sungguh menggoda hati manusia untuk berbuat jahat dengan merencanakannya terlebih dahulu. Mereka yang sudah terlanjur terlibat, berpikir bahwa mereka harus merampungkannya, seburuk apa pun masalahnya. Setelah dia membuat tawaran jahat itu, sebenarnya dia punya kesempatan untuk bertobat dan membatalkannya, tetapi kini akibat perjanjian yang dibuatnya itu, Iblis lebih leluasa menguasai dia dengan menyuruhnya menepati janji, walaupun dengan begitu dia harus berbuat tidak setia terhadap Gurunya, sama seperti Herodes yang harus memenggal kepala Yohanes demi menepati sumpahnya.

            Kesetiaan kita kepada Kristus akan senantiasa mendapat cobaan. Apakah kita tetap menempatkan Kristus dan kebenaran-Nya sebagai satu-satunya pedoman hidup kita? Mengikuti Kristus tidak pernah tanpa cobaan. Semakin kita dekat pada-Nya, semakin kita memurnikan motivasi dan disposisi hati kita, semakin godaan jahat akan menghantui. Jangan takut saudara-saudari, Tuhan yang memanggil, Tuhan yang menguatkan. Biarkan rahmat Tuhan tetap membimbing kita lebih-lebih di saat-saat ketika kita merasa lemah secara spiritual. Amin.

Todos sabemos por la historia del Evangelio que Judas es un traidor que fue tan cruel y casi sin piedad. El amor y la generosidad que Cristo le mostró, lo contrarrestó con traición. El evangelio nos dirige a ser conscientes de cualquier tendencia a ignorar la bondad y la misericordia de Dios.

Mientras que aumentaba el número de estudiantes (Hechos 6: 1), solo unos pocos se deshonraron y causaron problemas. Jesús eligió doce apóstoles a quienes creía que tenían cualidades superiores, pero resultó que la tendencia del corazón de Judas lo llevó a creer en las tentaciones de Satanás. Judas preferia  30 piezas de plata a Cristo, su maestro y amigo. Judas eligió servir el dinero en lugar de Dios y su maestro.

Los doce fueron amigos escogidos de Cristo, a quienes se les dio el honor experimentar su don especial. Son sus fieles seguidores que se llevan muy bien con él, por lo que deben amarlo y serle leales. Sin embargo, uno de ellos lo traicionó. Notamos cómo los evangelistas ilustran que incluso el mecanismo del mal puede ocurrir a la persona que se considera más cercana a Cristo. No existe una atadura de obligación o gratitud que pueda contener a aquellos que han sido encadenado por Satanás (Marcos 5: 3-4).

Judas, quien cedió ante el poder y las cadenas del maligno, fue a los líderes religiosos para ofrecer la vida de Jesús. “¿Qué quieres darme?” (v. 15). Ellos no le dijeron que viniera, o se lo sugirieron. Ciertamente nunca pensaron que uno de los seguidores de Cristo mismo tendría el corazón para hacerle eso. Fíjese, incluso entre los seguidores de Cristo hay algunos peores que nadie puede imaginar, y no hay nada que más personas como esta quieran que la oportunidad de darse cuenta de su maldad.
En la conspiración de los lideres religiosos para luchar contra Cristo, aquí era donde generalmente enfrentaron un callejón sin salida (vv. 4-5). No quisieron meterse con él en público, pero tampoco supieron dónde buscarlo cuando estába solo. Este es el problema, y la dificultad parecio insuperable hasta que Judas viniera a ellos para ofrecerles sus servicios.

Tenga en cuenta que aquellos que se dejan engañar por poderes tan malvados como los principales sacerdotes, encuentran a Judas, que resulta estar mucho más preparado de lo que podrían imaginar, para ayudarles a superar el impasse. A pesar de que los gobernantes, con su poder e intereses, pudieron matarlo cuando Él estába en sus manos, pero es Él mismo quien se traicionaba.

Tenga en cuenta que la cercanía a Dios debe ir acompañada con una disposición del corazón correcto ante Dios porque si la disposición del corazón es malo en realidad eso conduce a la desobediencia y al error. Hubo una razón principal por la que Judas traicionó a su propio maestro. Él esperaba una recompensa, cantidad del dinero por sus acciones. Jesús nunca ofendió a Judas, aunque sabía desde el principio que Judas era malo. Sin embargo, mostró el mismo afecto por él que mostró a los otros estudiantes, y no reveló la vergüenza que podría hacerle perder su honor. En realidad, Jesús lo colocó en una posición que disfrutabacomo tesorero, y aunque a menudo tomaba el dinero que tenía. No fue su odio hacia el Maestro o la disputa con Él lo que hizo que Judas se convirtiera en un traidor, sino solo por su amor al dinero. La codicia de Judas por el dinero lo hizo simplemente venir  frente a los principales sacerdotes con la pregunta: “¿Qué quieres darme?” Tenga en cuenta que no es una falta de dinero, sino que su amor por el dinero es la raíz de todo mal, y especialmente la apostasía hacia Cristo. La pregunta, “¿Qué quieres darme para que le pueda traicionar?” es la pregunta de una persona que ve a los humanos (a Jesús su Maestro) es solo una mercancía.

Buscar oportunidades para cometer pecados y maldad es un acto muy malo, porque esto realmente tienta al corazón humano a hacer el mal planificándolo primero. Aquellos que ya están involucrados piensan que tienen que completarlo, por muy malo que sea el problema. Después de que hizo la oferta malvada, en realidad tuvo la oportunidad de arrepentirse y cancelarla, pero ahora, como resultado del acuerdo que hizo, Satanás tuvo más libertad para controlarlo diciéndole que cumpliera sus promesas, aunque tenía que ser desleal con su Maestro, tal como Herodes tenía que hacerlo. Cortar la cabeza de Juan para mantener su juramento.

Nuestra lealtad a Cristo siempre será una prueba. ¿Seguimos poniendo a Cristo y su verdad como nuestra única guía? Seguir a Cristo nunca ha estado sin pruebas. Cuanto más cerca estemos de Él, más purifiquemos la motivación y disposición de nuestros corazones, más tentaciones malignas nos perseguirán. No tengamos miedo hermanos y hermanas, Dios nos está llamando, Dios nos está fortaleciendo. Dejemos que la gracia de Dios continúe guiándonos aún más en momentos en que nos sentimos espiritualmente débiles. Amén. 

We all know from the Gospel story that Judas is a traitor who was so cruel and almost merciless. The love and generosity that Christ showed him, he counteracted with treason. The gospel directs us to be aware of any tendency to ignore the goodness and mercy of God.

While the number of the disciples increased (Acts 6: 1), only a few were dishonored and caused problems. Jesus chose twelve apostles whom he believed to have superior qualities, but it turned out that the tendency of Judas’s heart led him to believe in the temptations of Satan. Judas preferred 30 pieces of silver to Christ, his teacher and friend. Judas chose to serve money instead of God and his master.

The twelve were chosen friends of Christ, who were given the honor to experience his special gift. They are his faithful followers who got along very well with him, so they had to love him and be loyal to him. However, one of them betrayed him. We notice how the evangelists illustrate that even the mechanism of evil can occur to the person who considers himself closest to Christ. There is no bond of obligation or gratitude that may contain those who have been chained by Satan (Mark 5: 3-4).

Judas, who yielded to the power and chains of the evil one, went to the religious leaders to offer the life of Jesus. “What do you want to give me?” (v. 15) They did not tell him to come, or they suggested him to do so. Certainly they never thought that one of the followers of Christ himself would dare to do that to him. Notice, even among the followers of Christ there were some worse than anyone can imagine, and there is nothing more people like this want than the opportunity to realize their evil.

In the conspiracy of religious leaders to fight against Christ, this was where they usually faced a dead end (vv 4-5). They did not want to mess with him in public, but they also did not know where to look for him when he was alone This was the problem, and the difficulty seemed insurmountable until Judas came to them to offer them their services.

Keep in mind that those who are deceived by powers as evil as the chief priests, find Judas, who turns out to be much more prepared than they could imagine, to help them overcome the impasse. Although the rulers, with their power and interests, could kill him when he was in their hands, but it is he who betrayed Jesus.

Keep in mind that closeness to God must be accompanied with a right heart disposition before God because if the disposition of the heart is bad it actually leads to disobedience and evil. There was a main reason why Judas betrayed his own teacher. He expected a reward, amount of money for his actions. Jesus never offended Judas, although he knew from the beginning that Judas was evil. However, he showed the same affection for him that he showed to the other disciples, and he did not reveal the shame that could make him lose his honor. Actually, Jesus placed him in a position that he enjoyed as a treasurer, and although he often took the money. It was not his hatred of the Master or the dispute with him that made Judas become a traitor, but only because of his love of money. Judas’s greed for money made him simply come face to face with the main priests with the question: “What do you want to give me?” Keep in mind that it is not a lack of money, but that the love for money is the root of all evil, and especially the apostasy towards Christ. The question, “What do you want to give me so I can betray you?” is the question of a person who sees humans (Jesus his Master) just a commodity.

Looking for opportunities to commit sins and evil is a very bad act, because this really tempts the human heart to do evil by planning it first. Those who are already involved think they have to complete it, no matter how bad the consequence can be. After he made the evil offer, he actually had the opportunity to repent and cancel it, but now, as a result of the agreement he made, Satan had more freedom to control him by telling him to keep his promises, even though he had to be disloyal to his Master, such as Herod had to do it by cutting John’s head to keep his oath.

Our loyalty to Christ will always be in a test. Are we still putting Christ and his truth as our only guide? Following Christ has never been without proof. The closer we are to Him, the more we purify the motivation and disposition of our hearts, the more, evil temptations will persecute us. Do not be afraid brothers and sisters, God is calling us, God is strengthening us. Let the grace of God continue to guide us even more at times when we feel spiritually weak. Amen.
